Lucknow metro 

Construction work began on 27 September 2014 along the 8.5 km (5.3mi) stretch from Transport Nagar to Charbagh Railway Station. After computer of the construction work in less that three years, the commercial operation of the metro started on 5 September 2017. the city residents got the gift of traveling by metro for the first time. 



 

The owner of Lucknow Metro:

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited is a 50:50 joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh and 3 ambitious metro projects under its aegis, namely, Lucknow Metro, Kanpur Metro and Agra Metro.




The construction of Lucknow Metro Phase 2 begin

Construction of the second phase of the Lucknow Metro is set to begin in April. The new 
phase will include the East- West Corridor, which will be 11.5 kilometers long and connect 
Charbagh to Vasant Kunj. Twelve new stations will be built, seven of which will be
 underground and five elevated.




Lucknow Metro Speed:

The Lucknow Metro has a design speed of 90 km/h (56 mph). However, the average operational speed is typically 32-34 km/h (20-21 mph). 

Lucknow metro Lines 

The Red Line (Line 1) of the Lucknow Metro is the operational line running from north to south, while the Blue Line (Line 2) is in the planning stage . The Red Line covers a distance of 22.87 km from Amausi (Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport) to Munshi Pulia and has 21 stations. The Blue Line will cover a distance of 11.165 km from Vasant Kunj to Charbagh and will have 12 stations.

Red Line:

• Route: The Red Line connects the CCS International Airport to Munshi Pulia, serving as a crucial North-South artery for Lucknow.
 • Distance: The total length of the Red Line is 22.87 km. 
• Stations: The Red Line comprises 21 stations.
 • Operations: The Red Line has been operational since September 5, 2017.
 • Infrastructure: The line is largely elevated, with some underground stations.
 • Trains: Trains on the Red Line are four-coach units with a maximum speed of 90 km/h. 
• Line Type: The Red Line is part of Phase 1 of the Lucknow Metro, with Phase 2 currently under construction. 







Blue Line:

August 2019: Modified DPR is yet to be approved by state government and also LMRC is yet to get land for Metro deport which is to come up near upcoming Vasant Kunj.

January 2024: The Government of Uttar Pradesh Approved the construction of 11.65 km long East- West corridor between Vasant Kunj to Charbagh, Blue Line which is also known as Phase 1B, at an estimated budget of Ru. 5,881 crore ( US$690 million) in January 2024 with an expected completion timeline of 2029.

In Phase 1, 21 metro stations were built on the Red Line from CCS Airport to Munshipulia and 12 metro stations will be built on the Blue Line from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj.

Timings of Metro in Lucknow

Lucknow Metro trains operate from 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM daily. The service operates on all days, including weekends and holidays. There's a five-minute interval between trains on the Red Line. 

Here's a more detailed look:

  • First Train: 6:00 AM from both CCS Airport and Munshipulia. 
  • Last Train: 10:30 PM from both CCS Airport and Munshipulia.
  • Frequency: Trains run every 5 minutes. 
  • Special Timings: During Holi, Lucknow Metro services may begin later in the afternoon and run until the usual 10:30 PM, according to the Republic World report.

   Lucknow Metro in loss :

Yes, the Lucknow Metro has been operating at a loss. In the Financial year ending March 2023, the Lucknow Metro, the UP Metro Rail Corporation, incurred a loss of Ru.1,362 crore. This loss was part of a larger ₹1,700 crore loss for the entire UP Metro Rail Corporation, which includes Noida Metro as well.
